The fifth most liveable city in the world, an investor’s dream!


Adelaide is known as the '20-minute city', where you can hop in your car and be in the city, hills or beach in under half an hour! It's one of the best cities in the world to live, work, do business and invest. But it seems that us 'Adelaideians' aren't the only ones who know this. 

We are well and truly on the world map for our affordable living, quality of life, convenience and first-class infrastructure... as well as our world-class wine regions and beaches. 

Recent data from realestate.com.au shows Glenelg is our most searched-for suburb overseas followed by Henley Beach, Hallett Cove, Brighton and Victor Harbor.

There is a clear trend here. International buyers are 
loving our coastal areas and lifestyle properties! 

But they are not the only ones. More and more local buyers and renters are being drawn to these areas for the bigger homes, larger block sizes and strong community feel, outside the hustle and bustle of the CBD.

And this trend is reflected in a recent surge in house prices in lifestyle suburbs such as Belair and Crafers. Both recorded double-digit growth in the past 12 months. 

Metre for metre, and location for location - the value for money in Adelaide is incomparable to other cities. Adelaide is one of the few capital cities where you can buy an established property on a decent block size, close to the best schools, shopping precincts and CBD. Our 20-minute city is an investor's dream!  

So what exactly does all this mean for the investors out there?

The profile of a rental property is changing. The typical investment property five years ago was a two bedroom townhouse or unit, with little to no garden. Nowadays the properties that are standing out are those that break this mould. Larger family homes are hard to come by and they are going straight to the top of renter's list.

Team Toop is specifically finding that larger homes in Adelaide are seeing more renters through the doors and are leasing in approximately half the time - providing optimal returns to these landlords.
